Basically
an agricultural, Naguilian's arable lands are planted with rice, corn
tobacco, sugarcane and other crops. Forest areas command a large portion
of the municipality's area. Bureau of Forestry declared one of its
barangay as potential watershed area - Barangay Casilagan.
"Known as HOME OF THE ORIGINAL BASI," its unequalled Sugarcane Wine is famous for its sweet and aromatic taste. Visitors can buy the Iloco wine in the various commmercial establishements in the town. For actual demonstration of its production, tourist can proceed to the Naguilian Agricultural Complex where the town's AAA Slaughterhouse is also located, one of the best of its kind in the region. Naguilian is this year's Cleanest, Greenest and Safest Municipality for the 1st-3rd Class Category in the province.

With its competitive and artistic workers, the town's silver crafts sells like hotcakes in various major cities in the country and abroad as well.

to many, Naguilian, specifically Barangay Lioac, is one of the best
makers of silver products. Naguilian is also endowed with rich natural
resources. One of the favorite places for hikers is the Tuddingan Falls
where brief sojourn in this scenic place gives a chance to enjoy the
combined beauty and comfort that nature provides.
The Catholic Church in Naguilian was constructed in 1739 after the Spaniards established their authority thereat. The centennial of the Catholic Church was held in 1839 which marked the separation of the town of Naguilian from the town of Bauang. When La Union was created as a province in 1850, Naguilian was one of the twelve original towns that formed the province.
